you can not estimate symmetry unless you have a 3D model of the face …2D pic assumes that the pic was taken with the camera exactly in the frontal plane…which is never the case, there will always be a few degree of misalignment that is not apparent to the human eye…in fact this is the precisely reason why in most of these cases here left/right symmetry (as claimed) one face appears narrower and the other appears broader……and also if the expressions at the time are also neutral and symmetrical …it is possible for a perfectly symmetric face to show an expression that is not symmetrical…ex when we smirk…even our smile is not meant to be symmetrically expressed…at least not for everyone
